Finally, after weeks of intense decision making, I have made my list of what I feel are the best songs of 2009. Lists are always fun, but this one was ridiculously difficult for me. Why? I have always enjoyed music (who doesn’t?) but I’ve never had such an infatuation with it as I have had this year; I’ve listened to a few thousand different songs and nearly 400 different albums. Basically what I’m saying is that I’ve heard so much good music!
When I made this list, I started with a list of around 4,000 songs that were released on 2009. I was able to dive through it and narrow it down to around 500 songs that I absolutely loved to death. But at around 350 songs, I just hit a brick wall; I had to delete 250 songs to get down to 100. I felt like I was killing off my (nonexistent) children every time I pressed the “delete” button on my Macbook. But eventually, as painful as it was, I was able to come to these final 100 songs and sort them out.
So here is my top 100 songs of 2009 – I love every song on this list, dearly.
100. Vampire Weekend – Cousins
99. Memory Tapes – Plain Material
97. The Very Best – Warm Heart of Africa (ft. Ezra Koenig)
96. Wild Light – California On My Mind
94. The Arctic Monkeys – Cornerstone
93. Friendly Fires – Kiss of Life
91. Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Heads Will Roll
90. The National – So Far Around the Bend
86. Franz Ferdinand – Lucid Dreams
81. Fiest + Ben Gibbard – Train Song

Hey, Kathleen
Thank you for pointing this out – I’ve been trying out a new theme, and this alerted me to the fact that this new theme apparently doesn’t support pages (this post has 5 pages to it.)
You should be able to change pages again.
outstanding post! great advice, will take on board!
I don’t really understand SEM, I know some , but I really feel I need to know more. Where is the best place to start for someone who has a basic understanding , but wants to take it to the next level ?
